Self-centered

I think I want to start writing in a personal blog style. But there is that nagging voice in my head that says "no one cares", "why would anyone read that" and "you'll look self-obsessed".

I’m not sure why I do feel the desire to share a bit more, publicly. Yet at the same time I like reading other peoples content that is more personal and behind the scenes.

The other thing is consistency, because honestly I do suck at it. But maybe that is ok. I just want somewhere where I can share a behind the scenes of behind the scenes, that isn’t completely about being on brand to Elm Leaf Studio, or my art/illustration that comes under my name. Obviously it’s all me but through a filter of keeping on topic for the most part.

I briefly mention the fact that I am a mum, I maybe hint at some things that interest me outside of work (not a lot - I’m kind of obsessed with all things creativity and working on my business which doesn’t leave much spare time to be honest). Maybe I want to talk about it being hard trying to start a business whilst working part-time and looking after my son the rest of the time. Perhaps I will share the messiness that can be my brain and mental health blips, the fact that sometimes I feel socially awkward and how that doesn’t always mix well with business. Or I might just talk about how I’m watching the latest Portrait Artist of the Year or ‘guilty pleasure’ watching Made in Chelsea.

I share a bit of this in my intro part of my newsletter for Elm Leaf Studio but again I’m mindful of how it needs to be helpful or relevant or something.

Maybe I won’t have much to say at all, after all. But here we go, here is a first post of me sharing slightly more than I usually would even.
